DALLAS, April 12 (UPI) -- Steve Ott scored his first career playoff goal 2:11 into overtime Monday as Dallas beat Colorado, 4-3 in their Western Conference quarterfinals.
Facing a possible three games to none deficit, the Stars tied it with 4:27 left in regulation when defenseman Philippe Boucher beat goaltender David Aebischer from a bad angle.
Ott, who rarely saw the ice during regulation, was an even bigger surprise in overtime. He gathered a loose puck along the left boards and outskated a pair of defenders before narrowly avoiding the stick of diving defenseman Karlis Skrastins and getting off a shot from the left faceoff circle.
Ott had not registered a point in three previous playoff games and had just eight goals in 125 career regular-season contests.
Jason Arnott and Scott Young scored goals for Dallas, which hosts Game Four on Wednesday.
Milan Hejduk, Riku Hahl and Steve Konowalchuk tallied for the Avalanche, who squandered a 3-1 lead.
