The Predators fought hard in the first two games in Detroit but faltered in the third period, allowing four of the Red Wings' five goals of the series in the final 20 minutes.

Carrying a 2-0 lead into the third in this one, Nashville seemed ready to fold again as Brett Hull scored his 101st career playoff goal at 5:21 to halve the deficit.

But Tomas Vokoun stopped the final 20 shots of the period to secure the club's first win in its postseason debut. Vokoun finished with 41 saves for his first career playoff victory.

Legwand gave Nashville the lead with 97 seconds left in the first period. Hall doubled the Predators' lead 82 seconds later.
