MLB: Seattle 9, Oakland 4 (10 innings)

OAKLAND, Calif., April 11 (UPI) -- Randy Winn tied the game with a single in the ninth and Bret Boone hit a two-run homer in a five-run 10th Sunday as Seattle beat Oakland, 9-4.

The Mariners lost their first five games of the season and trailed 4-2 when they stepped to the plate in the ninth against Arthur Rhodes, who was signed over the winter as the replacement for Keith Foulke.

Rhodes already had three saves this season but got into trouble on Sunday when the Mariners put runners on first and second with one out. Ichiro Suzuki cut the lead to 4-3 with an RBI single to right field before Winn tied it.

Chris Hammond (1-1) was the victim in the 10th, beginning with a double by Raul Ibanez. Suzuki drove in a run with a groundout before Boone capped the inning with a homer.

Shigetoshi Hasegawa (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
