MILWAUKEE, April 9 (UPI) -- Jeff Bagwell's grand slam capped a nine-run sixth inning Friday as Houston rolled to a 13-7 win over Milwaukee.
With the game tied at 2-2, the Astros sent 13 batters to the plate and banged out seven hits in the sixth. Bagwell started the uprising with a leadoff double before his sixth career grand slam off converted outfielder Brooks Kieschnick capped the scoring in the frame.
Bagwell, who also stroked a run-scoring single in the third, went four for five and scored three runs. He has a pair of homers and eight RBI in his last two games.
Richard Hidalgo also had a pair of hits in the decisive inning. He had a two-run single and another base hit on which Jeff Kent was thrown out at home to end the inning.
Hidalgo had a two-run single in the ninth, giving the Astros a 13-4 lead.
Wade Miller (1-0) benefited from the offensive outburst. The righthander went six innings and allowed two runs and four hits, striking out seven without a walk.
