MLB: Cleveland 11, Minnesota 4

MINNEAPOLIS, April 7 (UPI) -- Matt Lawton and Victor Martinez hit solo home runs to pace a 14-hit attack Wednesday night as Cleveland won over Minnesota, 11-4.

Chad Durbin recorded his first win in more than two years, allowing the Indians to avoid a three-game sweep.

The Twins won the first two games of the series in extra innings, needing 11 Monday and 15 Tuesday. But the Indians broke open the series finale early, scoring three runs in the fourth, one in fifth and four in the sixth to grab an 8-1 lead.

Lawton's homer in the third snapped a 1-1 tie and gave Cleveland the lead for good.

Durbin (1-0), who gave up a game-winning three-run homer to Shannon Stewart on Monday, allowed two runs and five hits in 4 2/3 innings in relief of Cliff Lee. He earned his first win since Sept. 28, 2001.
