PHILADELPHIA, March 27 (UPI) -- Robert Esche was yanked after allowing three goals on just 12 shots Saturday as the New York Rangers ended an eight-game loss streak, 3-1 over Philadelphia.

Esche, who yielded two goals from more than 60 feet in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the New York Islanders, didn't give up any long-distance goals to the Rangers, but was yanked 3:13 into the second period in favor of Sean Burke.

The Rangers scored on their second shot of the game. Jaromir Jagr picked up a loose puck behind the net and fired a shot that beat Esche with 5:04 left in the first period.

Josh Green and Bobby Holik scored goals 2:08 apart early in the second period to increase New York's lead to 3-0.

Burke stopped all nine shots he faced.

Philadelphia managed only a goal by Tony Amonte with 6:36 left in the second period.
