Montreal has not lost in many places while earning points in 13 of its previous 14 games (11-1-1-1). But the Canadiens remained winless in Buffalo since Oct. 26, 2001.

Biron got some breaks in the first period, during which Montreal put three shots off goalposts, then blanked the Canadiens until Michael Ryder beat him with a backhander with 5:22 left in the third.

He made 24 saves to improve to 10-3-0 lifetime against Montreal.

Dumont put the Sabres ahead for good 6:07 into the second period. After getting a pass from Daniel Briere, he wristed a shot from the left faceoff circle over the left shoulder of goaltender Mathieu Garon.
