Coleman on injured list with knee ailment

PHILADELPHIA, March 22 (UPI) -- The Philadelpia 76ers placed forward-center Derrick Coleman on the injured list Monday due to left knee tendinitis.

Coleman sat out Saturday's 101-69 loss to Miami. He has missed 36 games this season due to injury, 22 because of a broken right pinky finger.

Since returning from his finger injury, Coleman has averaged 4.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 10.8 minutes. He has averaged 8.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in 34 games -- 30 starts -- overall this season.

The 6-10 Coleman had been starting at center before he was limited significantly by chronic knee problems and the broken finger. In his absence, Samuel Dalembert has emerged as the starting center.

The 76ers activated forward Amal McCaskill to take Coleman's roster spot. McCaskill is averaging 2.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per game this season. He missed five games with a lower back strain.
