AVONDALE, Ariz., March 18 (UPI) -- The co-owners of Team Rahal announced Thursday their open-wheel racing operation would begin full-time participation in the IRL IndyCar series.
Bobby Rahal and David Letterman said Team Rahal would no longer take part in the Open Wheel Championship Racing Series, formerly known as CART.
Rahal's team is at Phoenix International Raceway for Sunday's IRL Copper World Indy 200.
"The ever evolving and difficult nature of the racing business and the state of our sport today requires that we must evaluate our programs and determine what is in the best interest of our team and our sponsors," Rahal said.
"The decision has been made that it is best for our team to concentrate on having two cars for the entire IRL season."
