ATLANTA, March 12 (UPI) -- Mario Moore and Julian Terrell rallied Vanderbilt to a 74-70, overtime win over No. 5 Mississippi State Friday night in the SEC quarterfinals.
The setback likely cost the Bulldogs a chance for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Vanderbilt will play in the semifinals Saturday against Florida, which got a jumper at the buzzer in overtime by Lee Humphrey to down Alabama, 75-73.
Cliff Hawkins scored a career-high 23 points as Kentucky ousted Georgia, 69-60, and South Carolina set up a semifinal game against Kentucky by thrasing LSU, 85-64.
Georgia had defeated Kentucky in both meetings during the regular season.
Terrell converted two free throws with 3:41 left in the extra period to give the Commodores the lead for good. He scored 16 and Moore added 17.
Kentucky (24-4) took control down the stretch against Georgia as Hawkins' crucial three-pointer with 1:48 remaining ignited an 8-0 spurt in 48 seconds that gave Kentucky a 64-55 cushion.
