TUCSON, March 12 (UPI) -- Battling firmer greens, Karen Stupples shot a 4-under-par 66 Friday to take the lead after two rounds at the Welch's Fry's Championship.
Stupples ran her bogey-free streak at the Dell Urich Golf Course to 30 holes for an 11-under 129 midway through the first tournament of the LPGA Tour season.
"It was a day for being patient and biding my time," said Stupples, who is seeking her first win in six years on the LPGA Tour.
A day after tying the course record with a 10-under 60, Jung Yeon Lee managed a 70 that included three birdies and three bogeys. She had a share of the lead before two-putting for bogey at the par-3 ninth hole, her last.
Former Player of the Year Laura Davies used a second straight 65 to move into a tie with Lee for second place.
