NEW YORK, March 12 (UPI) -- Carl Krauser scored five straight points down the stretch Friday night to give Pittsburgh a 62-53, Big East semifinal win over Boston College.
The sixth-rated Panthers will play in the tournament title game for the fourth straight year and for the third straight year their opponent will be Connecticut.
Connecticut pulled away for an 84-67 decision over Villanova in the second semifinal.
The Huskies continued to play without star center Emeka Okafor, who is suffering from a bad back. In addition, Connecticut's Charlie Villanueva had to be helped off the court in the second half with an apparent sprained ankle.
Hoping for a possible top seed in the NCAA Tournament, Pittsburgh (29-3) was clinging to a 52-50 lead when Krauser made a runner with 1:46 to play.
On Pittsburgh's next possession, Krauser was fouled shooting a three-pointer and made all three free throws for a 57-50 cushion with 46 seconds remaining.
