Parry has lead at Ford Championship

MIAMI, March 6 (UPI) -- Craig Parry vaulted to the lead of the $5 million Ford Championship at Doral on Saturday with a 5-under-par 67 in the third round.

A three-putt bogey at the par-4 17th hole was his only blemish in a round that included six birdies in benign conditions at Doral's "Blue Monster."

The Australian reached 13-under 203 with one round left, one shot better than Gene Sauers (64) and Scott Verplank (65).

Six players -- Phil Mickelson, David Toms, K.J. Choi, Danny Ellis, Joe Durant and Chris DiMarco -- are two shots behind.

Mickelson got nothing going on the front nine but picked up three birdies on the back side.

Second-round leader Retief Goosen birdied the final hole to sneak within three shots of the lead.

Parry's lone PGA Tour win came at the 2002 NEC Invitational, a World Golf Championships event. He has 19 international victories.
