Dandenault suffers broken foot

DETROIT, March 3 (UPI) -- Versatile Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mathieu Dandenault will miss four to six weeks after suffering a broken right foot Wednesday night.

Dandenault was injured in the first period of a 2-1 win over Calgary when he was struck on the foot by a shot from Calgary defenseman Robyn Regehr.

Red Wings coach Dave Lewis used Dandenault at center and wing last month but moved him back to defense following injuries to Chris Chelios and Jason Woolley. The 28-year-old has three goals and nine assists in 64 games.

Chelios could be ready to return Friday against Vancouver while former Norris Trophy finalist Derian Hatcher, who has missed 63 games with torn knee ligaments, is expected back Monday against Tampa Bay.
