ST. LOUIS, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins were just two minutes away from ending their losing streak Saturday before Sebastien Caron made a mistake.
Eric Bogunecki redirected defenseman Eric Weinrich's shot past Caron at 2:54 of overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 victory over the Penguins, who had their team-record losing streak extended to 14 games.
Pittsburgh, seeking its first win since Jan. 12, rallied from a two-goal deficit behind stellar play by Caron, who stopped all 16 shots he faced in the final 40 minutes of regulation.
St. Louis capitalized on its first chance in the extra period. Boguniecki deflected the puck past the left side of Caron, who overplayed the errant shot.
