USA takes 2-0 lead in Davis Cup

UNCASVILLE, Conn., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Robby Ginepri achieved a career first Friday in helping the United States take a 2-0 lead over Austria in their first-round Davis Cup tie.

Ginepri, making his Davis Cup debut, rallied from a two-sets-to-none deficit for the first time in his career. The 21-year-old Ginepri posted a 6-7 (6-8), 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Jurgen Melzer.

Andy Roddick defeated Stefan Koubek in the second match, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. During the match, Roddick had a serve of 150 miles per hour, fastest in the history of competitive tennis.

In other Davis Cup action around the world, the Netherlands had a 2-0 lead over Canada and Argentina was a 2-0 leader over Morocco. The Switzerland-Romania, Australia-Sweden, France-Croatia, Belarus-Russia and Czech Republic-Spain matchups were all tied at 1-1.
