U.S. and Honduras to play Saturday

GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. soccer team beat Panama and Canada this week to reach a pre-Olympics qualifying tournament match against Honduras in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The U.S.-Honduras match will take place Saturday.

Bobby Convey scored both goals as the United States posted a 2-0 triumph over Canada on Thursday. Convey has four goals in the tournament and has singlehandedly put the U.S. squad into semifinals, where a win would secure a berth in the 2004 Olympics.

Convey has been working side-by-side with more recognized players like Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley and may get a deserved rest Saturday night.

Honduras has already qualified for the semifinals following a 3-1 win Thursday over Panama. Saturday's game will determine final rankings in the group and semifinal opponents since both Honduras and the Americans are even in points and goal differential.

Mexico and Costa Rica are possible semifinal opponents for the U.S. team, which has qualified for every Olympics since 1980.
