MADISON, Wis., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Wisconsin sophomore forward Alando Tucker, who played in only four basketball games this season, will miss the rest of the season due to a right foot injury.
Since Tucker played in less than 20 percent of Wisconsin's games, he can apply for a medical hardship that would give him an extra year of eligibility.
Tucker broke his right foot on Oct. 9 and missed the Badgers' two exhibition games and first four regular-season contests. He returned against UW-Green Bay on Dec. 10, but suffered another right foot injury against Ohio on Dec. 27 and missed the last eight games.
"This was a tough decision for me, but after talking to our doctors following my physical exam and testing on Friday, I feel that this is the best decision for me," Tucker said. "It's not easy for me to have to sit out, but I am confident this is the best choice for me in the long run."
Tucker averaged 14.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in his four games.
The Badgers (14-3) have won six of their last seven games and are in first place in the Big Ten Conference. They finished the week ranked 11th in the coaches' poll.
