COL BKB: St. Joseph's 83, Temple 71

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- No. 3 St. Joseph's kept alive its bid for a perfect season Saturday, using a record-setting three-point assault to beat Atlantic 10 foe Temple, 83-71.

It was the team-record 18th consecutive win for St. Joseph's (18-0), which remained one of only two unbeaten teams in the nation. Second-ranked Stanford entered Saturday night's game in Oregon at 17-0.

Jameer Nelson and Delonte West each scored 21 points for the Hawks, who set a single-game conference record for three-pointers made by going 20-of-36 from the arc. They began the day third in the nation, making 9.3 per game.

St. Joseph's built a 72-43 lead on a three-pointer by Nelson with 8:45 remaining. Temple used a 28-8 run to cut its deficit to 80-71 with 40 seconds remaining.
