Bjorn takes lead in Johnnie Walker

BANGKOK, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Thomas Bjorn of Denmark shot an eight-under-par 64 Thursday to take a one-stroke lead over England's Nick Faldo in the first round of the Johnnie Walker Classic.

American Ed Loar, Australians Jarrod Moseley and Scott Gardiner and Ian Poulter of England tied for third, two strokes off the lead.

Defending champion Ernie Els of South Africa was at 70 with Shaun Micheel, the PGA champion.

"I've been hitting the ball really well on the driving range the last couple of weeks," Bjorn said, "and I got off to a fantastic start, five-under through seven holes without doing much."
