NASHVILLE, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Frank Wycheck of the Tennessee Titans, whose NFL career included far more than just the "Music City Miracle," announced his retirement on Friday.
"Overall, I think he was one of the top players ever to play for us because of what he did both on and off the field," said team owner Bud Adams. "His talent was obvious and his ultimate compliment was that quarterbacks always trusted him."
Wychek, claimed off waivers from the Washington Redskins in 1995, was one of the few remaining players with the franchise when it was based in Houston.
His signature moment came in a wild card playoff game against Buffalo in 1999.
With the Titans trailing by one point with 16 seconds left, Wycheck lateraled the ball on a kickoff return to teammate Kevin Dyson, who went 75 yards for the game-winning score in a 22-16 victory.
