COL BKB: Duke 84, Wake Forest 72

DURHAM, N.C., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- J.J. Redick scored 23 points Saturday afternoon as second-ranked Duke extended its home winning streak to 36 games with an 84-72 win over No. 3 Wake Forest.

Duke (13-1, 4-0 ACC) extended its winning streak to 11 games, opening the game on a 17-6 run and never looking back. The Blue Devils did it with a tenacious effort on both ends.

Redick scored 10 points in an 18-7 tear that gave the Blue Devils a 63-49 lead with just over 11 minutes to go. He capped it with a steal and a driving layup before waving his arms to incite the frenzied crowd at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Shelden Williams keyed Duke's inside dominance with 16 points, 14 rebounds, and eight blocked shots. He had six blocks by halftime, effectively controlling Vytas Danelius and Eric Williams in the paint.

Wake Forest (11-2, 2-1) lost its second straight and has lost 15 of its last 16 against Duke.

Justin Gray led the Demon Deacons with 18 points.
