HOBART, Australia, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- No. 4 Fabiola Zuluaga of Colombia reached the quarterfinals of the Moorilla International after rallying past Australian wild card Samantha Stosur, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Zukuaga is one of only three seeds left out of eight.
Stosur, a semifinalist last week in Gold Coast, pulled her hamstring just after taking the first set.
"I felt a slight twinge after the first set which restricted my movement around the court," said Stosur, who earned a wild card into next week's Australian Open.
Fifth seed Maria Vento-Kabchi of Venezuela was eliminated by Maria Elena Camerin of Italy, 7-6 (9-7), 2-6, 6-1, but No. 6 Shinobu Asagoe of Japan and seventh seed Anca Barna of Germany moved into the next round. Asagoe defeated Italy's Rita Grande, 6-1, 7-5, while Barna overcame American Mashona Washington, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
