Olshansky to be available for NFL draft

EUGENE, Ore., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Junior Igor Olshansky of Oregon has joined the increasing number of underclassmen to announce his intentions to skip his senior year to enter the NFL draft.

Olshansky, a 6-6, 305-pounder, was one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the PAC-10 Conference this past season. He had 58 unassisted tackles, 6 ½ sacks, and three fumble recoveries.

"It wasn't just my decision," Olshansky, a native the Ukraine, told the Eugene Register-Guard. "It was the whole family's decision."

For his career, Olshansky, who was a huge favorite with the home-field fans at Autzen Stadium, has played organized football for only six years. He finished his career with the Ducks with 146 tackles, one interception, and three blocked kicks.

"I think he is passing up the opportunity to be a first-round draft choice next year," said a reserved Coach Mike Bellotti, "but I'm sure that he will make it this year, and he has my complete blessing on this."

"There's no guarantees," Olshansky told the paper.
