PHOENIX, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Dennis Green was introduced Friday as the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Reports indicate Green, who has a tall order, will get $11 million over four years. He has a proven track record, having posted a 97-62 record in 10 seasons as coach of the Minnesota Vikings, but inherits a team that went 4-12 this season and has long been on of the NFL's worst teams.
""He is a proven winner with an outstanding track record of success everywhere he has coached," said team president Bill Bidwill. "We're anxious for him to begin implementing his winning program with the Cardinals."
Green is one of only three NFL coaches to achieve a 15-victory season (15-1 in 1998), joining Bill Walsh (San Francisco, 1984) and Mike Ditka (Chicago, 1985) He also is one of just eight coaches in NFL history to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons (1992-94) as an NFL head coach.
