NBA: Chicago 104, New York 99

NEW YORK, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Jamal Crawford scored 28 points Friday night to help Chicago fight off a late rally by the shorthanded New York Knicks and get a 104-99 victory.

Charlie Ward hit a three-pointer with 43 seconds left to cut the deficit to 98-97. Eddy Curry hit one of two free throws on the ensuing possession, but Shandon Anderson missed a layup with 28 seconds remaining.

Marcus Fizer hit three free throws in the final seconds to help Chicago snap a two-game skid and end New York's season-high four-game winning streak.

Rookie Kirk Hinrich scored 19 points and Curry added 14 for the Bulls.

The Knicks were without starting guards Allan Houston and Frank Williams. Houston, their leading scorer, dressed but did not play because of swelling in his knee. Williams, who had sparked the winning streak, sat out with a strained left groin.
