NHL: NY Islanders 4, Philadelphia 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Jason Blake snapped a tie with five minutes left and Arron Asham had his first multi-goal game as the New York Islanders beat Philadelphia, 4-2.

Less than two minutes after Mark Recchi gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead in the third period, Asham converted a pass from Alexei Yashin at the left goalpost. After making the pass, Yashin was knocked to the ice and had his right forearm slashed by the skate of Flyers center Michal Handzus.

Yashin drifted away in obvious pain, collapsing to the ice while holding his arm. He left with what was reported as a laceration and did not return.

Blake put New York ahead with a power-play goal, blasting a slap shot from above the left faceoff circle past Jeff Hackett with Oleg Kvasha setting a perfect screen.

Philadelphia has just one win in its last eight contests (1-3-2-2).
