NHL: Ottawa 3, Florida 2 (OT)

OTTAWA, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Todd White scored off a giveaway 94 seconds into overtime Monday to give the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers.

After turning aside 36 shots against Dallas on Friday for his second shutout of the season, Robert Luongo stopped 41 in regulation to earn Florida a point. But Pavel Trnka coughed up the puck at his own blue line in overtime, allowing Daniel Alfredsson to send White in on a breakaway.

White, who had gone 11 games without a goal, drew Luongo to the ice before making his third of the season.

Luongo suffered just his second loss in seven games. He has faced at least 40 shots seven times this season.

Antoine Vermette and Martin Havlat also scored for the Senators, who have won three straight games and four of five.

Valeri Bure tallied twice for Florida, which went to overtime for the eighth time in 14 games.
