HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Ben Gordon recorded a triple-double Saturday afternoon to lead No. 2 Connecticut to a 104-54 rout of Iona.
Gordon had 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists. Also, Emeka Okafor added 24 and 10 rebounds, Denham Brown scored 22 points and Charlie Villanueva and Rashad Anderson contributed 15 apiece for Connecticut (8-1), which has won five straight games since a 77-61 loss to Georgia Tech in the semifinals of the Preseason NIT on Nov. 26.
The Huskies have won by an average of almost 30 points during the streak and all eight of their victories this season have been by double digits.
Connecticut led only 12-10 five minutes into the first half, but broke it open with an 11-0 run, capped by Brown's three-pointer with 8:31 before intermission.
Greg Jenkins led Iona (2-5) with 14 points and nine rebounds.
