Warrick out for Sunday

CINCINNATI, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Peter Warrick of Cincinnati underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Friday and will not play in Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

The team said on its Web site that it is hoped Warrick will recover in time to play in the regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 28.

Warrick will miss just his second game in four seasons after suffering the injury in last week's 41-38 win over San Francisco. He has established career highs this season with 75 catches, 794 yards, and seven touchdowns. On Thursday, he was named a second alternate kick returner for the AFC Pro Bowl team.

Washington has emerged as the Bengals' third receiver with 18 catches for 269 yards and three touchdowns.

The injury to Warrick likely means that rookie Kelley Washington will make his first NFL start this week for the Bengals (8-6), who share first place in the AFC North with Baltimore.
