Atlanta Falcons have a new GM

FOWERY BRANCH, Ga., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Falcons Monday named Rich McKay as their general manager.

The moves comes four days after McKay, the general manager of the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was granted permission to explore other opportunities in the NFL.

"This is a franchise that has never achieved at a level the people in Atlanta would like," McKay said during an afternoon news conference. "We want to build a franchise that will be strong, not only today, but well into the future."

McKay's first major move will be finding a coach. The Falcons, who are in last place in the NFC South with a 3-11 record, fired coach Dan Reeves last week.
