ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- George O'Leary, who was forced out at Notre Dame two years ago because he falsified his resume, is headed back to college football.
Central Florida will name O'Leary as its football coach.
O'Leary is in his second season as defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings, who are in first place in the NFC North with an 8-5 record.
Central Florida fired coach Mike Kruczek on Nov. 10 and named Akan Gooch as interim coach.
O'Leary was a successful college coach at Georgia Tech from 1994-2001, compiling a 52-33 record and leading the Yellow Jackets to five straight bowl appearances. He was named National Coach of the Year in 2000, and was the Atlantic Coast Conference's top coach in 1998 and 2000.
O'Leary left Georgia Tech to go to Notre Dame in December 2001, but resigned under pressure just five days later after acknowledging he had falsified part of his resume.
