Rangers lose Lundmark for two months

NEW YORK, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- The New York Rangers will be without center Jamie Lundmark for eight weeks because of knee injury.

Lundmark was hurt on a hard hit by Michael Peca of the New York Islanders Thursday night in a 4-2 Rangers victory. The two went knee-to-knee.

The NHL front office has reviewed a complaint by the Rangers.

"I had a discussion with Glen Sather and that's where it lies," Colin Campbell, the league's vice president of hockey operations, told the New York Daily News. "There will be no further discipline other than the penalty rendered during the game."

Peca was given a major penalty and game misconduct penalty.

Lundmark was diagnosed with a third degree sprain of the MCL in his right knee as well as a partial sprain of the PCL.

In 23 games this season, Lundmark, who will not require surgery, had two goals and five assists for seven points, along with 12 penalty minutes.
