WINTER GARDEN, Fla., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Daniel Chopra grabbed a share of the lead Friday midway through the PGA Tour National Qualifying Tournament.
Chopra fired a 7-under 65 at the Crooked Cat Course and through 54 holes of the six-day event shared the lead with Mathias Gronberg of Sweden at 13-under 203.
Danny Briggs and Omar Uresti were at 204, a stroke better than Danny Ellis, Todd Hamilton and Kris Cox.
The top 30, plus ties, in the 170-player field earn full-time playing priveleges on the PGA Tour in 2004.
Chopra nearly earned his tour card during the Nationwide Tour season, but he fell from 20th to 21st on the money list -- the top 20 are promoted to the PGA Tour -- when D.J. Brigman birdied the final two holes at the Tour Championship.
Chopra was born to a Swedish mother and Indian father, moved to India at the age of 7 and was raised by his grandparents.
