Gronberg leads Qualifying Tournament

WINTER GARDEN, Fla., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Mathias Gronberg of Sweden took a one-shot lead over five players Thursday after the second round of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.

Gronberg, already with full status on the European Tour through 2005, fired a 3-under 69 to move to 8-under 136 overall. He is the highest ranked player in the field at No. 72 in the world rankings.

The tournament runs through Monday with the top 30 players receiving their PGA Tour card for the 2004 season and the remainder settling for either full exempt or conditional status on the Nationwide Tour.

Kevin Na shot a 67 and was tied with Danny Briggs, Jeff Freeman, Bradley Hughes and Jon Mills at 7-under.

Daniel Chopra, who barely missed getting his card after finishing No. 21 on the Nationwide money list, carded a 71 and was at 6-under.
