Giants re-sign Jeffrey Hammonds

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- One day after bringing back righthander Dustin Hermanson, San Francisco re-signed outfielder Jeffrey Hammonds to a one-year contract Wednesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed for Hammonds, who made $8.2 million in 2003.

Hammonds, who began the 2003 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, was released in June after hitting .158 with one home run and three RBI in 10 games. He signed a minor league contract with the Giants on July 1 and was purchased at the end of the month.

In 36 games with San Francisco, Hammonds batted .277 with three homers and 10 RBI. A veteran of 11 seasons who also has played with Baltimore, Cincinnati and Colorado, he owns a .274 career average with 107 homers and 416 RBI in 904 games.
