EAST LANSING, Mich., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- No. 4 Michigan State continued its domination of the Spartan Invitational Sunday with an 89-81 victory over DePaul.
Kelvin Torbert scored 19 points and Chris Hill and Alan Anderson added 16 each as the Spartans captured their own tournament for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons.
Michigan State (3-1) won this event for the seventh straight season and the 17th time in its 21-year history.
Anderson scored 11 points in a 16-4 run that turned a one-point lead into a 71-58 advantage with 6:38 left. The previously unbeaten Blue Demons (3-1) pulled within 78-73 with 55 seconds remaining on a 3-pointer by Drake Diener.
The Spartans answered with a pair of fastbreak baskets by freshman Shannon Brown, then made 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch.
Delonte Holland led the Blue Demons with 27 points while Andre Brown had 18 and 10 rebounds.
