COL FB: Washington 27, Washington St. 19

SEATTLE, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Cody Pickett's 21-yard touchdown pass to Corey Williams with 70 seconds left Saturday night gave Washington a 27-19 win over No. 8 Washington State.

Marquis Cooper iced the game with a 30-yard interception return moments later as Washington State lost its grip on a possible Rose Bowl berth.

With Southern California now in position to land a berth in the Sugar Bowl, Washington State (9-3, 6-2 Pac-10) was a leading contender to receive an at-large BCS berth in the Rose Bowl.

But those hopes were damaged Saturday when the Cougars were unable to hold a 16-7 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Washington (6-6, 4-4) won its third straight game and is making the best of a turbulent year that including the firing of Coach Rick Neuheisel. The victory clinched at least a share of the Pac-10 title for USC.
