Lions place Anderson on IR

ALLEN PARK, Mich., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- The Detroit Lions, already without rookie Charles Rogers, have placed Scotty Anderson on injured reserve with a severe high ankle sprain.

Anderson was injured in Sunday's loss at Seattle. He had 17 catches for a team-leading 325 yards and two touchdowns in seven games.

The Lions (3-7) filled the roster spot by signing receiver David Kircus from the practice squad.

"I expect something (from Kircus) because he is going to be playing," said Coach Steve Mariucci. "He has been waiting for this opportunity, and he is practicing hard and practicing well. Hopefully, he will take advantage of this opportunity."

"It feels great," said Kircus, a 2003 sixth-round pick out of Grand Valley State. "It's a huge honor for me. It was an honor for them to bring me back to the practice squad. They let me go and they didn't have to bring me back."

Detroit also signed defensive back Julius Curry to the practice squad. He was released two weeks ago.
