OTTAWA, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Jean-Pierre Dumont and defenseman James Patrick scored in a 14-second span early in the third period Monday as Buffalo posted a 2-1 victory over Ottawa.
Patrick, who scored his only other goal of the season at Ottawa in a 1-1 tie on Nov. 1, finished a pass from Maxim Afinogenov with a wrist shot from the high slot to give the Sabres a two-goal lead.
Senators defenseman Wade Redden made it 2-1 with 14:50 to go -- his third power-play goal in as many games. Redden was open in front and redirected a pass from Todd White past Buffalo goaltender Martin Biron.
Ottawa's last eight goals all have come on the power play -- an unofficial NHL record.
The Senators have lost two straight at home in regulation for the first time since Dec. 23-27, 2000.
Biron stopped 23 shots and recorded his fifth victory of the season.
