NHL: Edmonton 2, Calgary 1 (OT)

EDMONTON, Alberta, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Ryan Smyth scored with 16 seconds left in overtime Saturday night, giving the Edmonton Oilers a rare home win over Calgary, 2-1.

In a tightly contested game that featured 58 shots and superb goaltending, Smyth made the difference by keeping his stick on the ice.

Mike York skated down the right side and threaded a pass to Smyth slicing toward the left goalpost. With Calgary's Shean Donovan draped all over him, Smyth got his stick down and redirected the puck past goalie Jamie McLennan for his sixth goal of the season and 27th career game-winner.

It was just the second goal in nine games for Smyth, but the Oilers improved to 5-2-3 in their last 10 games.

The Flames had a four-game winning streak in Edmonton snapped and have lost five of six overall.
