BOSTON, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- The Boston Celtics placed forward-center Raef LaFrentz on the injured list Friday with knee tendinitis and activated rookie forward Kendrick Perkins.
Acquired in October in the five-player trade that sent Antoine Walker and Tony Delk to Dallas, LaFrentz has averaged 8.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 22.3 minutes off the bench for Boston. He experienced soreness in the knee after scoring eight points on Wednesday.
The 6-11 LaFrentz averaged 9.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 69 games last season with Dallas after signing a five-year contract worth $69 million. He had career averages of 12.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.22 blocks in his first five NBA seasons.
Selected 27th in the first round of the 2003 draft as a high school center out of Texas, the 6-10, 285-pound Perkins missed the first eight games of the season.
