PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Flyers left wing Todd Fedoruk will be out indefinitely after undergoing surgery Wednesday to repair a fractured left cheekbone.
Fedoruk was injured while fighting defenseman Eric Cairns in Tuesday night's 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders.
Team physician Dr. Guy Lanzi performed the nearly two-hour procedure, inserting titanium plates and screws.
"Todd had a fracture of his left cheekbone which involved the bones around the eye socket, the orbital bones, the cheekbone and the upper jaw," Lanzi said. "His bones were placed back into normal anatomic alignment through an incision in his left eyebrow."
Fedoruk leads the Flyers with 59 penalty minutes in 14 games, adding one assist.
