VALLEY RANCH, Texas, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Dallas Stars right wing Aaron Downey was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a hip flexor injury.
The move is retroactive to Saturday.
The Stars also recalled right wing Mathias Tjarnqvist from the Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League.
Downey, 29, has one assist, a plus-2 rating and 16 penalty minutes in eight games for Dallas this season. The 6-1, 216-pound forward is in his second season with the Stars. He had one goal and one assist with 69 penalty minutes in 43 games last season.
Tjarnqvist has played 13 games for Utah this season, collecting two goals, one shorthanded, and an assist with 12 penalty minutes. He played in four preseason games with Dallas, going scoreless with eight shots on goal.
The 24-year-old Swede was the Stars' third selection, 96th overall, in the 1999 draft.
