Mississippi regained the lead at 24-20 on a one-yard touchdown run by Brandon Jacobs with 2:39 left. The drive included a 55-yard pass from Eli Manning to Lorenz Towsend.

Auburn moved downfield with the help of a 51-yard screen pass from Campbell to Obomanu to the Mississippi 11.

On third down, Campbell found a wide-open Obomanu, who dropped the ball. The Tigers (6-4) had one more chance, but Eric Oliver batted down a pass.
