Canucks claim Baumgartner off waivers

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- The Vancouver Canucks claimed Nolan Baumgartner off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

They reclaimed him less than a month after losing the defenseman in the NHL waiver draft.

Baumgartner, who had two penalty minutes in five games with the Penguins, spent part of last season with the Canucks after signing as a free agent in 2002. He had a goal and two assists in eight regular-season contests but was held pointless in two

postseason games.

Drafted 10th overall by Washington in 1994, the 27-year-old Baumgartner has one goal and four assists in 34 NHL games with the Capitals, Chicago, Vancouver and Pittsburgh.
