NHL: St. Louis 6, Detroit 5

DETROIT, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Doug Weight's hat trick and the team record-equaling five assists by Dallas Drake boosted St. Louis to a 6-5 victory over Detroit Wednesday night.

Weight completed the second hat trick of his 14-year career at 2:26 of the third period, making it 6-4. That was the game-winner as Brett Hull scored his 718th career goal on a power play with 70 seconds remaining.

It gave Hull sole possession of fourth place on the NHL's all-time list, trailing only Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe and Marcel Dionne.

Drake assisted on all three Weight goals along with a pair by Peter Sejna to match the Blues' record set most recently by Adam Oates on Jan. 26, 1991.

St. Louis' first four goals came against Dominik Hasek, who faced just 13 shots before he was replaced by Manny Legace at 4:46 of the second.
