Chargers, Dolphins relocated

TEMPE, Ariz., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- There will be an added twist to the weekly NFL Monday night special when the San Diego Chargers play the Miami Dolphins.

There has been a change of venue.

The contest has been moved to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. Because of raging wildfires in the San Diego area, the parking lot at Qualcomm Stadium has been turned into a major evacuation center as residents from several surrounding neighborhoods were ordered out of their homes by authorities.

The relocation also will prevent Junior Seau from coming home.

Seau, perhaps the greatest defensive player in the Chargers' history, was selected to 12 Pro Bowls in 13 seasons as an outside linebacker in San Diego.

In April, the Dolphins (4-2) acquired Seau for a conditional pick in the 2004 draft.

Last week, the Dolphins had a four-game winning streak snapped with a 19-13 overtime loss at New England.

The Chargers (1-5) beat Cleveland, also in overtime, 26-20, on a day when running back LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 200 yards.
