NHL suspends Brad May

TORONTO, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Left wing Brad May of the Vancouver Canucks has been suspended for one game without pay for his actions in Monday's game against the Buffalo Sabres.

May was assessed a match penalty for cross-checking Buffalo's Jay McKee with 1:11 remaining in the Canucks' 6-1 victory.

May will miss Wednesday's game against the St. Louis Blues. He will be eligible to return Sunday at Phoenix.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, May will forfeit $5,555.56.
