NHL: Calgary 3, Minnesota 2

ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla and rookie Matthew Lombardi scored less than four minutes apart in the second period Tuesday and Calgary held on for a 3-2 victory over Minnesota.

Calgary managed just five goals in its first four games and Iginla had been held without a point. The struggles prompted Coach Darryl Sutter to make a change, putting Iginla and Lombardi on the same line.

The move paid off when Lombardi assisted on Iginla's first goal of the season just 1:45 into the second period to forge a 1-1 tie. The Flames took the lead for good 3:56 later, as Lombardi scored his first career goal off a pass from defenseman Rhett Warrener.

Dean McAmmond added an insurance goal in the third period that proved important, as Minnesota defenseman Andrei Zyuzin scored on the power play with 15 minutes left.
